Jennifer Valera, LCSW

Jennifer Valera, LCSW.

In my practice, I serve English and Spanish-speaking children, teens and adults. I emphasize intergenerational and developmental transition and conflict resolution. I use a mix of therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of my clients, their feedback and goals. My belief is that good therapy helps you move forward, whether gently or more directly. It needs to work FOR YOU.

Areas of my practice include:
Healing from emotional or physical trauma; Managing chronic health concerns; Coping with grief, separation and loss; Easing conflict between "tweens," teens and parents; Addressing work and school challenges; Supporting transitions at home; and, Breaking negative patterns in relationships.

I am particularly interested in supporting children and teens to make healthy life decisions, learn to communicate their needs effectively, and to experience a trusting, safe relationship with their caregivers.

Life and Therapy
CupLife is about authenticity and connection. It's about being healthy and making good choices for yourself; living a happy and meaningful life. Simply, our goal at Piedmont Psychotherapy is to be helpful to you.  Therapy should be practical. It should help you feel more capable of handling the daily stress and challenges of life. Therapy should inspire you to grow as a person and develop healthier relationships with the people you love. You should look forward to coming to therapy. It should be a safe and comfortable place for you to express yourself, ask difficult questions, and get some help solving your problems. More than that, therapy should help you create a meaningful and fulfilling experience of your life, whatever your challenge.
